Thanks for this. I've followed the steps but I'm not finding the soil data I need, specifically Unified Soil Classification and Depth to Resistant Layer, among others. I see this data exists on the Web Soil Survey website, but I'm not seeing it in my database or by using SOD either. Is this data hidden somewhere in the database or will I need to download it separately somehow? Thanks for any suggestions you have.

In my testing, saving a PDF from Word is best through the Save As option. When Save As PDF is used, a lot more problems are found in the PDF and a lot more remediation is needed. Plus, there is no Save As PDF option on a Mac. Thanks!

Gravity is only the dominant force when talking about sand or upon reaching saturation. Capillary pressure is usually the dominant force, especially when talking about silty or clay soils.

Do only those things in the field on your soil descriptions that can not be done later. Bag all the horizons up and do those things that can be done later in the office. It will make you much more efficient.

Taking colors is very important. You will often not have ideal conditions in the field. Bag them up and do the colors when you do have ideal conditions. And be consistent.
